Dr. Christopher Maxwell

Dr. Christopher Maxwell is a board-certified family medicine physician with more than 25 years of experience providing comprehensive primary care in Missouri. His work has focused on rural family medicine and emergency medicine, with a practice style grounded in steady clinical judgment, continuity of care, and lasting relationships with patients and families.

Dr. Maxwell attended MidAmerica Nazarene University and earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He completed his residency in family medicine at Langlade Memorial Hospital in Antigo, Wisconsin, and is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Maxwell has worked in and around the Harrisonville area for 23 years, much of that time as a hospice and emergency room provider. Throughout his career, he has been affiliated with Kingsville Medical Clinic, Garden City Medical Clinic, Appleton City Rural Health Clinic, Cass Regional Medical Center, Cameron Regional Medical Center, and Ellett Memorial Hospital. His experience spans clinic, hospital-connected, hospice, and emergency care settings, giving him a broad perspective on both routine and complex patient needs.

His clinical practice reflects the full scope of family medicine — from preventive care and routine primary care to the treatment of acute illness and chronic health conditions. When asked why he chose rural healthcare, Dr. Maxwell said he has always enjoyed small-town life and values building relationships with people and families. That outlook carries through in a direct, patient-centered approach shaped by clear communication, careful follow-through, and practical medical care.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Maxwell stays busy with his nine children. When time allows, he enjoys basketball, golf, and hiking.
